Bhubaneswar: As most parts of Odisha virtually turned a boiling cauldron due to intense heatwave conditions, state the temperature in capital Bhubaneswar touched 44 degree Celsius by 2-30 pm on Saturday.
Sambalpur was the hottest place in the state by 2.30 pm recording 45 degree Celsius, while Jharsuguda was closely behind with 44.4 degree Celsius. Hirakud also recorded high temperature of 44 degree.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state is unlikely to experience any respite from the grueling heat in the next 3-4 days. Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in many parts of the state.
The MeT Centre has issued orange and yellow warning for severe heatwave and heatwave over several districts over the next couple of days.
In a bulletin, it said that maximum temperature is very likely to be above normal by 4-7°Celsius at a few places over the districts of Odisha during next 3 days.
Consequently, hot and discomfort weather is likely during the next 3-4 days and people are advised to take precautionary measures (avoid heat exposure, keep cool and avoid dehydration) while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm, it added.

Orange warning (Be Prepared): Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at many places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, and Kandhamal districts.
Yellow warning (Be updated): Heat wave conditions likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Ganjam, Jajpur.
Day-2(June 18-19)
Orange warning: (Be Prepared): Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions very likely to prevail at a few places over the districts of Angul, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khurda, Balangir.
Yellow warning (Be updated): Heatwave condition likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Nuapada.
Day-3 (June 19-20)
Orange warning: Heatwave to severe heatwave conditions likely to prevail at some places over Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh, and Balangir districts.
