Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) on Friday gifted 20 bicycles to Peer Leaders (Pragati Sathis) and five cycles to underprivileged slum kids as a token of appreciation and love on the eve of Diwali.
The gift-a-bicycle programme under the ‘Cyclegiri’ event aims to popularize cycling across the Temple City.
It is BSCL’s way to appreciate peer leaders of the Socially Smart Bhubaneswar Project for their dedicated service to the people through COVID-related awareness activities in collaboration with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Similarly, the five cycles were gifted to needy slum children as part of the weekly ‘Cyclegiri’ event. It’s meant to popularize cycles among those who want to cycle passionately but are unable to buy one due to financial difficulties.
BSCL organizes ‘Cyclegiri’ every Friday. The weekly event was launched on October 9 with a cyclathon.
