Bhubaneswar: Aman Chhatriya, a city-based student, has broken two Guinness world records in hip-hop dance at one go.
A student of pharmacy in Bhubaneswar’s Hi-Tech College, Aman entered the Guinness Book of World Records for doing the maximum kip-ups in one minute (47) and no-handed kip-ups in one minute (37) in August 2019.
Pakistan’s Farhan Ayub had earlier held the world record for maximum kip-ups in one minute (41) and the record for no-handed kip-ups (32) was held by a South Korean.
Hailing from Kantabanji town in Balangir district, the 20-year-old youth has pursued his studies and passion for dance with equal enthusiasm.
After practising close to one-and-a-half years, Aman had attempted to break the record in March 2019, but did not succeed due to a technical issue. Taking the failure in his stride, he persisted and made his mark in the second attempt.
He credited his success to his parents, Raju and Madhuri Chhatriya, who he said have been a strong source of support. “My mentor, Satya Priya Pradhan from Kalahandi, who is also a two-time Guinness world record holder in punch strikes also deserves equal credit,” he added.
