Bhubaneswar-Surat Direct Flight From January 20

Bhubaneswar: Here’s a good news for thousands of Odia-speaking people in Gujarat and their relatives in Odisha. Air India has announced introduction of a direct Bhubaneswar-Surat flight from January 20, 2020.

The flight will operate twice a week.

The schedule is as follows:

From Bhubaneswar — Monday and Thursday
Departure 8.40 am, arrival 10.40 am
From Surat — Friday and Sunday
Departure 8.30 am, arrival 10.30 pm

Bhubaneswar MP and BJP leader Aparajita Sarangi, who had earlier informed about the introduction of the direct flight and had written a letter to the Civil Aviation Ministry, thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Air India CMD Ashwini Lohani for the new air service.

In a Tweet, she also shared a letter from Air India about the flight schedule.

With the introduction of the Bhubaneswar-Surat flight, people in Odisha will have an additional air service to Gujarat. IndiGo is the other airline which is operating a daily service between Bhubaneswar and Ahmedabad.

Surat is home to an estimated seven lakh Odias. To meet the travelling demands, there had been a long-standing demand for air service between the diamond city and the Odisha capital.
