Bhubaneswar: Going by the number of COVID-19 vaccination, Bhubaneswar is all set to become the first fully vaccinated city in the country.
According to a senior official of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), all possible measures are being taken to vaccinate the city denizens.
Compared to major cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, the vaccination drive has been ramped up in Bhubaneswar with 30,000 people being inoculated every day.
The official further said that about 9.5 lakh people in the city will be administered 19 lakh doses of vaccines. Till June 26, 13,01,635 doses (first dose – 823879 and second dose – 477756) had already been administered and another 5.74 lakh doses will be given in subsequent phases. The BMC currently has a stock of 4,13,420 doses of Covaxin and is expecting another consignment of the vaccine soon.
“The BMC has set a target to complete the first dose vaccination of all residents by July 15 and the second dose by the end of August. If the vaccination continues as per the schedule, Bhubaneswar will be the first fully vaccinated city in the country,” the official added.
