Bhubaneswar To Celebrate Odisha’s Literary & Cinematic Legacy With Ekamra Walks This Sunday

Bhubaneswar:  Ekamra Walks is set to host a full-day celebration of Odisha’s cultural richness, combining literature, traditional dance, and cinema in two distinct sessions, here on Sunday.

The morning session will see a blend of spoken narrative with rhythmic expression. The day will begin 11.30 am with the Odia Literary Trail, an immersive storytelling experience centered on the classic Odia short story ‘Swapnabhanga’. The interactive format will allow the participants to dive into and enjoy literature without having to read

the book beforehand, fostering a warm, lively, and engaging atmosphere.

Traditional Dhap dance, a rhythmic art form rooted in the Kandha community, will add to the morning’s vibrancy. Characterised by its thunderous rhythms and deep cultural roots, Dhap has long served as a medium of storytelling through movement and percussion, making it a perfect complement to the literary theme.

The celebrations will move to Kala Bhoomi’s amphitheatre in the evening for Odia Film Panorama at 5.30 pm with the screening of ‘Ahalya’, a poignant cinematic reimagining of the mythological figure. Directed by Bijoy Ketan Mishra, the film delicately explores themes of silence, resilience, and the unseen emotional weight borne by women.

The director will also join the audience for an interactive session ahead of the screening.

Seats for both events are limited. Interested participants can register at ekamra-walks.com, an official release said.
