Bhubaneswar: In order to update the farmers with latest technology for farming and mechanisation of production, the Odisha government will organise Krushi Odisha 2023 from February 16.
The 3-day event, to be jointly organised by Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment department in association with Federation of India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), will be held at Biju Patnaik Playground in Baramunda from February 16 to 18. The theme of this year’s event is “Emerging Technolgy in Agriculture”.
Speaking at a press meet in Bhubaneswar on Monday, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain said, “We have organised regional Krushi Mela in Sambalpur, Baripada, Berhampur and Koraput. It has been decided to organise such types of mela at every district. The government has decided to increase farm mechanisation and special fund has been earmarked for this purpose. We are also planning to organise Krushi Mela at block level.”
Arabinda Padhee, principal secretary of the department said, “We have plan for a special session on millet where experts from international agencies will participate. We expect more than 1500 farmers from across the state to participate in the event.”
Prem Chandra Choudhury, Director, Agriculture and Food Production and secretary, Fisheries and ARD department Suresh Kumar Vashisth also spoke.
Total 212 stalls will be set up on different categories of agriculture and allied sectors. Various government undertakings, banks and farm entrepreneurs will participate in it. FPOs, SHGs, NGOs and input dealers will also participate in Krushi Odisha. Farmers will know about recent technologies through 10 thematic seminars.
The event will focus on subjects like production technology, agriculture mechanisation, application of ICT in agriculture, infrastructure development, marketing linkage, easy access to credit, utilisation of improved agriculture inputs and their distributions and establishment of agriculture enterprises.
The farmers, agri entrepreneurs, SHGs/ FPOs from the state who have shown their excellence in achieving successful farming will be felicitated. Krushi Odisha will be live streamed through Youtube and Facebook.
