Bhubaneswar: Commuters traveling along Jaydev Vihar–Nandankanan stretch in Odisha capital are likely to face severe traffic congestion starting August 6, as soil investigation work commences for a upcoming flyover project.
The Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar–Cuttack, has issued a traffic advisory following notification from the Chief General Manager-II of OB & CC Ltd. regarding the planned infrastructural testing for Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan Road Flyover Project.
The preliminary soil testing will span a 45-day period, running through September 19. The work will be carried out at five locations: Kalinga Stadium Gate Nos. 7 and 8, Pal Heights at Jaydev Vihar, Kalinga Hospital Square, Damana Square and KIIT Square.
Work will take place across five key points: near Kalinga Stadium Gate Nos. 7 and 8, outside Pal Heights at Jaydev Vihar, Kalinga Hospital Square, Damana Square, and KIIT Square. Because these critical locations will experience partial carriageway obstructions throughout the campaign, significant movement delays and bottlenecking are expected during peak hours. The carriageway at these spots is likely to remain partially blocked, leading to congestion and possible delays, during this period.
In light of the impending disruptions, commuters have been advised to avoid the affected stretches wherever possible and to use alternative routes. Those travelling between Behera Sahi Square and KIIT Square have been specifically asked to plan their journeys in advance to offset delays.
Motorists have been instructed to follow the traffic diversions and regulatory signs put up at the work sites and to obey the instructions of personnel deployed on the ground to keep traffic moving safely. The Bhubaneswar-Kataka Commissionerate Police has sought the cooperation of all road users to maintain orderly traffic flow and ensuring the safe, timely execution of the project.
