Bhubaneswar: Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Saturday arrested a travel agent here for allegedly touting and using individual IRCTC accounts for selling e-tickets in violation of Railway Act.
Acting on a tip-off, RPF sleuths nabbed the accused, Bishnu Prasad Patnaik, and found him in possession of around 40 IRCTC accounts, through which he had sold over 500 e-tickets.
The RPF team seized incriminating articles worth over Rs 19 lakh from his possession, including American, dollars, several credit and debit cards, a laptop, mobile phones, two IRCTC dongles among other things.
RPF IIC K Sethi said that preliminary inquiry suggests that Patnaik had been in the business since 2016 and he used to charge Rs 100 to Rs 200 extra from his customers. “Further details can be ascertained once the inquiry is over,” Sethi added.
