Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested a youth from Odisha capital for releasing a fake nude picture of a minor girl in social media.
As per reports, the youth, identified as Mukesh Nag of Samantarapur in the city had made friendship with the girl, staying in the area under Lingaraj police station, in the social media some time back. Mukesh had opened his account in the name of ‘cute-nandini’ and put the photo of a girl as his profile picture.
The victim mistook him to be a girl and had open discussion with him on various matters. In course of time, as they became close, Mukesh asked the girl, a Class X student, to send a nude picture of her. But she turned it down and as he insisted on it, she blocked his friendship account in the social media.
Following this, Mukesh morphed the profile picture of the victim into a nude girl and released it in the social media. When the girl came to know, she informed her father who filed a complaint at Cyber Crime and Economic Offence Police Station under Commissionerate Police on October 25, said its IIC.
Acting on the complaint, the cyber police started investigation and identified the accused Mukesh. A team from cyber police station arrested him on Tuesday.
