Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar zone has registered 27% growth in collection of Central GST, Central Excise and Customs during financial year 2021-22 over previous fiscal.

The zone collected total revenue of Rs 50978 crore till the end of March, 2022. The growth in tax collection is highest among all large tax paying states other than Lakshadweep and Ladakh. The national gross GST revenue collection in March, 2022 was Rs 1,42,095 crore which is all-time high breaching earlier record of Rs 1,40,986 crore collected in January, 2022, according to a release of office of chief commissioner, GST, Central Excise and Customs, here.

Chief commissioner of Bhubaneswar Zone, R Mangababu, said attributed the growth in tax collection to increased industrial and economic activities. In March, 2022, Central GST revenue of Rs 1465 crore was collected from the taxpayers administered by the Central Government with a growth of 43% over the same period last year.

The sectoral analysis of revenue collection from top 100 taxpayers of the zone reveals that steel, mining and mining services and works contract services sectors have registered a phenomenal growth during the current fiscal. The other important sectors like oil, paper, banking and finance have also shown substantial growth during April to March in this fiscal.

So far as the import and export is concerned, Bhubaneswar Zone collected Rs 11154 crore of Customs duty registering a growth of about 65.46% compared to previous year. Higher import of crude oil by Indian Oil Corporation Limited and increase in realisation of export duty on iron ore fines exported from mineral belts of Odisha contributed to the growth.
