Bhubaneswar: Birla Global University (BGU) signed an MoU with Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC) on Friday with the target of identifying areas of potential collaborations and cooperation, without creating any legally binding commitments.
With BGU, Bhubaneswar becoming a formal member of the S&T cluster post singing of this MOU, the intention is to create a shared S&T eco-system by increasing interactions of the faculty and students of member institutes of the BCKIC with each other as well as with external stakeholders such as industry, philanthropic organizations and the general public.
BCKIC is an initiative by the Office of Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India, set up under the direction of PM-STIAC to seamlessly connect research institutions, academia, industry and corporate towards creation of a Hub & Spoke Model, actively following innovation and knowledge creation.
The programme, held at the BGU Seminar Hall, was graced by Prof. (Dr) PP Mathur, Vice Chancellor, BGU; Prof. (Dr) BK Das, Registrar, BGU; Dr Mrutyunjay Suar, Chairman, BCKIC; Dr Prashant Singh, CEO, BCKIC; Prof. (Dr) Samson Moharana, Dean, Birla School of Commerce; and Prof. (Dr) Parameswar Nayak, Dean, Birla School of Management.
Prof. Das emphasized on the importance and purpose of the MoU and how it will be a win-win situation for BGU and BCKIC.
Addressing faculty members of all schools of BGU, Prof. Mathur stressed on the importance of innovation for society and nation building.
Dr Suar insisted on setting up an Incubation centre at BGU, and urged faculty members to contribute to the Knowledge Cluster for all-round development of BGU as an innovation centre.
