Bhubaneswar: Voice of SOA Community 90.4, the community radio centre of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University, conducted a programme to create social awareness against drug abuse.
SOA Radio chose June 26 to do the programme as it happened to be International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Students who participated in the programme took a pledge to stay away from drugs and expressed their views on creation of a drug-free society through talks, songs and dance.
“It is always a proud moment when students take the responsibility to lead a clean and positive life,” said Ms Honey Patnaik, Officer-in-charge of SOA Radio.
The radio team visited a slum near Gandamunda, where they conducted a narrowcasting programme on ‘Accelerating Infant and Young Child Feeding’ (IYCF), including complementary foods and feeding practices to improve child nutrition.
The women were explained the need for breastfeeding and complementary feed for infants in the age group of 0-6 and 5-12 months, respectively. The programme was supervised by Subhrasima Mohanty and Satyaranjan Swain of SOA Radio.
