Bhubaneswar: When is the city finally going to get its multi-level modern car parking units? The answer is uncertain.
The Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) is the implementing agency of the two towers at Saheed Nagar and Raj Mahal. The proposed units will be fitted with parking sensors, wi-fi system and CCTVs.
The twin projects were launched to decongest the busy Janpath road in the state capital by creating parking infrastructure for around 700 cars.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had laid the foundation stone for the projects in June 2017 and the initial deadline for completion was around 12 months.
However, the work was delayed. Earlier, the BSCL had sought extension of the deadline from April to August 2021.
However, BSCL has again sought an extension of six months to complete the two car parking units. That means February 2022.
According to BSCL sources, the civil work of the projects will be completed by October. After that, parking sensors, wi-fi system and CCTVs will be installed.
Once the units start operating, sources added, denizens can pre-book parking space at the towers through an online application that will be linked to the buildings’ management system.
