Nuapada: Joy and happiness gripped the Bhunjia tribal group in the Sunabeda sanctuary area in Odisha’s Nuapada district as a couple from the community will be participating in the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi as guests.
As soon as news about the invitation extended to the couple to attend the prestigious event spread in Komna area, the community members burst into a celebration mood. A festive atmosphere has descended on the entire area.
The couple, identified as Bhujabal Majhi and Kunjibai Majhi, will be attending the celebrations as part of an annual tradition in which members of different tribal and ethnic groups get an opportunity to visit Delhi to represent their community.
According to reports, the couple will first leave for the state capital and then fly to New Delhi on January 22. Representative of ‘Chuktia Bhunjia Unnayan Sanstha’ Himanshu Mahapatra will accompany them.
For Bhujabal and Kunjibai, will be a unique opportunity and their happiness knows no bound. While the community members are proud of the development, the couple is getting ready for the occasion.
Set to travel out of the area for the first time, they are also excited about experiencing a flight journey.
The two are slated to meet the President, Vice-President, the Prime Minister and other dignitaries and participate in the Republic Day parade on January 26. The couple will be attired in their traditional outfit and dish out their traditional food.
Certain tribal customs will be followed and a community feast will be organised after their return from Delhi on February 2, sources said.
