Bhushan Steel Launches Primary Healthcare Unit For Peripheral Villages

Dhenkanal: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Bhushan Steel on Wednesday dedicated a mobile primary healthcare unit to people living in the periphery of its plant at Kantabania in Dhenkanal.

The unit has a trained doctor, a nurse, a pharmacist and necessary medicines. It will benefit around 12,000 inhabitants of 11 villages, including Sibapur, Kusupanga, Asanbani, Itap, Kurunti, Narendrapur of Odapada block, Nuagaon, Sarpa, Raghunathpur of Hindol block in Dhenkanal district and Talbahal and Ganthigaria of Baranpal block in Angul district.

Bhushan Steel Managing Director Rajeev Singhal flagged off the unit. This unit will travel the periphery villages according to the prescribed schedule to provide healthcare services at the doorsteps of the villagers and create awareness on preventive measures for various diseases, he said.

This is one of the many CSR interventions Bhushan Steel is planning for partnering inclusive growth of the region, he added.

“We are happy with the launch of this service as many villagers, who cannot afford to go to hospital, will be treated in the village itself. We will provide all cooperation to staff of the unit,” said Sibapur Sarpanch Debashree Behera.

Hindol Zila Parisada Member Dharmananda Senapati, Kusupanga Panchayat Sarpanch Pankaj Pradhan, Bhushan Steel outgoing COO Ujjal Chakraborti, Corporate Services chief Manikanta Naik and other officials of the company, besides people residing in the periphery areas were present.

After the takeover of Bhushan Steel, the Tata Steel has started work for a model school at a cost of Rs 5 crore in Hindol block while another school has been proposed in Odapada block of Dhenkanal district.
