Balasore: Unidentified miscreants broke an ATM of State Bank of India (SBI) at Ranipatna Chhak in Balasore town but failed to steal cash from it late on Monday.
The miscreants had damaged the front portion of the machine but fled the scene when a patrolling team of police reached the spot.
“The incident took place around 2 am. The robbers seem to have used gas cutters to cut the ATM. The CCTV footage will be examined to identify and nab the wrongdoers,” a police officer informed.
Earlier this month, two other ATMs of SBI located at Sunhata and ITI Chhak in the town were looted by miscreants in a similar way. An amount of Rs 36 lakh was looted from both the machines.
