New Delhi: Ahead of Diwali, the Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a 3 per cent hike in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for central government employees and pensioners.
After this hike, the DA will increase to 31 per cent. It comes into effect from July 1, 2021, reports suggest.
Earlier this year, the government had decided to hike the DA for central government employees by 11 per cent from 17 per cent to 28 per cent after a temporary halt in 2020 following the outbreak of COVID-19 that devastated the country’s economy.
