Patna: Tragedy struck a Bihar family in the most unexpected form and fashion.
Priya Kumari, a class X student from Siwan district, died on Sunday after being pushed off the roof by a troop of monkeys.
The girl had been studying on the rooftop when some monkeys suddenly landed there and attacked her.
Petrified and panic stricken, she didn’t know what to do and cried out for help. Some villagers advised her to run towards the stairs, reported ABP News.
She tried to escape, but the monkeys jumped on her. One of the monkeys pushed her when she was on the edge of the open roof.
As she fell on to the ground from a considerable height, the teenager sustained severe injuries on her head and other parts of the body.
Family members rushed the unconscious girl to the nearby Siwan Sadar Hospital, but she succumbed to the injuries before she could be treated.
According to local police, the victim’s family refused a post-mortem examination.
The local community is in shock, with many expressing deep concern over increasing menace of monkeys in the area.
Incidents of aggressive monkeys causing disturbances in urban and semi-urban areas of Bihar have been on the rise in recent years. Local authorities have been urged to take action to address the growing conflict between humans and monkeys.
Expressing their condolence to the bereaved family, the district administration assured the public that steps will be taken to ensure such incidents don’t recur.
