Bargarh: BJD candidate Rita Sahu on Monday filed her nomination paper for the ensuing byelection to the Bijepur Assembly constituency scheduled on February 24.
Sahu filed her nomination before the Returning Officer at Padmapur at about 12 pm in the presence of minister Sushant Singh and other senior party leaders including Prasanna Acharya, Debi Mishra, AU Singhdeo, Sameer Dash and Ranendra Pratap Swain.
Earlier, Sahu was taken on a massive rally from Goru Padia to the Sub Collector’s office where she filed her nomination.
“I am confident that the BJD will come through with flying colours in the bypoll,” Debi Mishra said.
Talking to newsmen, Sahu said she will win by a landslide margin in the bypoll. “Whoever is the candidate of the Congress and BJP, it will have no effect on the BJD,” she maintained.
While the BJP candidate Ashok Panigrahi had filed his nomination on February 2, Congress candidate Pranaya Sahu will file his nomination on February 6, the last date for filing nomination papers.
