Bhubaneswar: A youth was critically injured after the motorcycle which he was riding rammed into Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik’s car at Balimakhar in Odisha’s Deogarh district on Monday evening.
According to sources, the accident occurred around 7.30 pm as the Minister was heading to an event in Ballam. The crash was so severe that the youths were thrown off the bike onto the road. The Minister’s driver and security officer also sustained minor injuries.
The critically injured youth was initially admitted to Deogarh district headquarters hospital before being shifted to VIMSAR in Burla for advanced care. The other youth also received medical attention.
Minister Naik visited the hospital to check on the critically injured youth and ensure proper treatment.
Eyewitnesses noted that the pilot vehicle ahead of the Minister’s car had moved forward, leaving his vehicle exposed to the motorcycle. Reports stated that the youths, from a nearby village, were traveling from Basalai when the crash occurred.
