Bhubaneswar: Police have busted a bike lifting racket and recovered 14 motorcycles from two arrested members of a gang in Bhubaneswar.
According to a release of the Commissionerate of Police on Friday, Pushpaturaka of Sikharchandi Vihar had lodged a complaint that she and her friend had gone to Biju Pattnaik Park and parked their bike there before going inside. But when they returned from the park, they found their bike stolen.
On Thursday evening, the police got reliable information that a person was sitting on the bike having same registration number of Pushpaturaka. A police team went to the spot and apprehended the person, who was identified as Prasant Lenka of Banki in Cuttack district. The police also seized the bike.
During interrogation, Prasant disclosed to the police that he used to lift motorcycles from Forest Park, Madhusudan Park and IG Park in Bhubaneswar and outside places. His accomplice Indrajeet Singh was taking the stolen bikes to hide in different parking places in the city.
On the basis of Prasant’s disclosure, police apprehended Inderjeet and recovered 14 stolen bikes from different parking places.
