Bike Lifting Gang Including 2 Minors Busted In Odisha’s Angul

Angul: Police have busted a motorcycle lifting gang of 5 members, including two minor boys, in Odisha’s Angul district.

Speaking to media persons on Thursday, Angul DSP Akshay Kumar Panda said several cases of motorcycle lifting from the area under Angul Sadar police limits were filed in the last few days. In order to nab the people involved in the crime, the district SP formed a special team comprising senior police officers.

Following investigation, the team nabbed the two minor boys. After the two boys revealed the identity of three others involved in the bike lifting, the police arrested them, the DSP said.

During interrogation, the arrested persons said they had stolen the vehicles from Banarpal, Bantala and Angul town.

On their modus operandi, Panda said the gang members used to target the bike owner in their areas who would not suspect them. While two of them kept a watch, others broke the lock of the vehicle and drive it away with duplicate key. Later, they used to sell the bike in black market, said the DSP.
