Bhubaneswar/Puri: A bike rider was admitted to hospital as a cobra hidden in his vehicle bit him in Odisha’s Puri district on Saturday.
According to sources, the man, identified as Sukanta Samantaray of Delang in the district, had gone to a shop in Puri town in the morning. While he was returning home on his motorcycle in the afternoon, he felt severe pain on his right foot.
Ignoring the pain, as Sukanta continued driving the bike. After covering some distance, he again felt stabbing paid. As he stopped the bike to check his foot, he found a cobra coming out of the vehicle and there were bite marks at two spots on his left foot.
Alarmed at the incident, he fell down on the spot and shouted for help. The locals rushed him to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and contacted the Snake Helpline.
Later, general secretary of Snake Helpline Subhendu Mallik went to the spot and rescued the cobra. The condition of Sukanta was stable, the hospital sources said.
