Biker In Odisha Asked To Cough Up Rs 18500 Fine; Know Why

Rayagada: A two-wheeler driver was fined Rs 18,500 for violating traffic rules under the new MV Act in Odisha’s Rayagada town on Sunday evening.

According to sources, the challan was issued against one Y Sagar. He was caught while trying to flee on a two-wheeler registered in name of Harish Chandra Swain of JK Pur locality in Rayagada town, during checking at DIB Chhak in Rayagada town.

The police imposed a fine of Rs 18,500 as he failed to produce documents of the vehicle and driving licence. He was also found driving without a helmet.

Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Ashok Panigrahi informed that Rs 10,000 fine was imposed under Sections 180 and 181 of the MV Act as he had no driving licence. Besides, Rs 500 was imposed for general offence, Rs 2,000 for disobedience of orders of enforcement authorities, Rs 5,000 for jumping red light and Rs 1000 for driving without helmet, he added.
