Jajpur: One person was killed and two others were seriously injured as a sand-laden truck hit their bike in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Thursday.
According to sources, the three persons, identified as Pramod Behera and Trilochan Behera of Jajpur town and Gadadhar Behera of nearby Pritipur were going on a bike on some work to Panikoili.
While going on National Highway 16, the truck hit them near Sathipur under Panikoili police station. While Pramod died on the spot after coming under the truck, two others sustained serious injuries after they were thrown off the bike.
Following the accident, police went to the spot and sent the injured persons to the district headquarters hospital . They also registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem. They seized both the bike and the truck,
Tension prevailed in the area as the locals blocked the National Highway and demanded adequate compensation for the deceased.
