Bhawanipatna: A truck carrying 50 new motorbikes caught fire in front of Reliance petrol pump on National Highway-26 at Bandopala in Kalahandi district late on Wednesday.
Locals and driver of the truck, Shiv Shankar, saw smoke billowing from the backside of the truck and tried to douse the flames but the fire engulfed all the vehicles loaded on the truck.
“No one was injured in the incident. Property worth over Rs 3 crore has been gutted in the fire”, a fire official said.
However, the reason behind the mishap is yet to be known, the official added.
The truck was coming from Haridwar and going towards Jaipur to deliver the motorcycles when the incident took place at around 2 am.
