Bill Gates Says Only Three Jobs Will Survive AI Onslaught

New Delhi: Noting that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping the workforce, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has said it will wipe out most professions and jobs.

He has predicted that only three types of jobs are likely to survive the technological revolution brought about by AI, which is set to thoroughly transform the global economy.

Maintaining that AI, and automation in general is taking over more and more of the work that humans used to do, he says that we are entering a new chapter for work, where a lot of jobs are going to become irrelevant.

With the future of the workplace getting transformed by technology at a pace never seen before, As per media reports, Bill Gates believes that only three professions will be able to withstand the massive impact of AI.

As AI advances, entire industries are being reshaped. Industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services have embraced automation to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Bill Gates, while speaking at a recent technology conference, stated that AI has the potential to reduce working hours and allow people to focus on tasks that require creativity and critical thinking. At the same time, automation may also displace workers on a large scale. Millions of jobs in sectors like transportation and customer service are at risk of being replaced by smart machines.

As per Bill Gates, only three sectors will remain robust in the face of AI onslaught. These sectors are related to energy, biology and programming of AI systems. The level of expertise and flexibility needed for these sectors cannot be replicated by machines as of now.

In the energy sector, for example, innovative solutions for sustainability require human creativity and refined technical knowledge.

In biology, empathy and holistic understanding are crucial, especially in fields such as medicine and biotechnology.

Ultimately, AI programming remains a human-dominated domain due to the complexity of creating and managing advanced systems.

Bill Gates emphasised the need to prepare for this new era: “Those who master programming skills and digital literacy will be ahead.”
