Birendra Mohanty, Jayadratha Suna To Receive Sahitya Akademi Awards

Bhubaneswar: Two Odia writers have been selected for the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Awards 2018.

Poet Jayadratha Suna will be felicitated with ‘Yuva Puraskar’ for his book ‘Sosa’ and Birendra Mohanty will receive ‘Bal Sahitya Puraskar’ for his anthology of poems titled ’Rumku Jhuma’.

Jayadratha is a native of Kalahandi. His book ‘Sosa’ was published in 2017.

In a letter, Kendra Sahitya Akademi on Friday announced the names of 21 winners of Bal Sahitya Puraskar and 21 recipients of Yuva Puraskar for 2018.

The winners will receive Bal Sahitya Puraskar at a function in New Delhi on November 14, the Children’s Day.

The date for conferring Yuva Puraskar is yet to be declared.

The awards comprise a casket containing an engraved copper-plaque and a cheque of Rs 50,000.
