Rourkela: Bodies of three members of a family, who went missing in Ib river in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, was fished out from the waterbody by Fire Service personnel on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as siblings Md Farhan (15) and Md Rizwan (17), and their uncle Md Sajid (35) of Sundargarh town.
According to sources, the three had gone to the riverside for a family picnic to celebrate Farhan’s birthday. After lunch, Sajid along with the two minors went to the river to take a bath during which they slipped into deep waters and drowned.
A massive search operation was subsequently launched to trace the missing persons, but had to be suspended owing to darkness. The operation was resumed this morning, leading to the recovery of the three bodies from the river.
