Birthday Special: When Dharmendra Bribed Spot Boy For Retakes Of Hugging Scene With Hema Malini In ‘Sholay’

Mumbai: Dharmendra was the reigning king of Bollywood during the 70s and 80s.

He was one of the highest-paid actors of his time and was linked up with several leading actresses until he tied the knot with his ‘Dream Girl’ Hema Malini.

 When Dharmendra fell in love with Hema, he was already married to Prakash Kaur. But, as love knows no boundaries, nothing could stop the He-Man of Bollywood from professing his love for Hema.

According to a report on IMDB, during the shooting of ‘Sholay’, Dharmendra had bribed the spot boy with Rs 2000 so that he could hug his ladylove Hema Malini repeatedly for a long time.

Apparently, the actor used to pay Rs 20 to the spot boy each time, for deliberately disturbing them when the shooting of the revolver scene was going on.

Finally, Dharmendra and Hema Malini got hitched in 1980. The couple had to embrace Islam to get married as the actor’s first wife refused to divorce him.

The actor has half a dozen kids from his two marriages. He has four kids from his first wife Prakash Kaur and two daughters with Hema Malini.
