Kottayam: Bishop Franco Mulakkal, the prime accused in the nun rape case in Kerala, was granted bail on Friday by Kottayam Additional Sessions Court.
The next hearing has been posted to August 13, when the charges would be readout.
The court has directed Bishop Franco not to leave Kerala and to be physically present for all subsequent hearings, reported The News Minute.
Bishop Franco has been accused of raping a 44-year-old nun from Missionaries of Jesus convent in Kuruvilangad, Kottayam, between 2014 and 2016. He was arrested on September 21, 2018, but was granted bail in October 2018.
The court had rejected his bail on July 13 after he failed to appear in the court in the previous 14 hearings.
