Sundargarh: Hundreds of local residents of Bisra in Sundargarh district staged rail roko agitation at Nuagaon railway gate demanding immediate reopening of a cement plant in the area.
The agitators also resorted to a road blockade disrupting vehicular movement in different parts of Nuagaon block in the district.
“The cement plant near Bisra has remained closed for over two years. As a result of which the livelihood of thousands of employees and labourers has largely been affected. This time, we have staged a peaceful strike. But, the agitation will be intensified in the days to come, if the district administration fails to immediately reopen the cement plant”, one of the agitators said.
