Bhubaneswar: The first Biswa Odia Bhasha Sammilani (World Odia Language Conference) kicked off at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
As part of the three-day grand event inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the department of School and Mass Education has arranged several programmes for the opening day.
According to official sources, students from different government and private educational institutions attended the event on the inaugural day. Several competitions and games were organised to attract the students towards the Odia language.
Around 200 students and their teachers from Baragarh Government High School, DAV Chandrashekharpur, Government Boys’ High School, Unit- 8, were part of this programme.
There were different activities and games, including wordplay, calligraphy, and tattoo making. An exhibition highlighting Odia language and culture showcased over 18 postcards used by the children to write letters.
The inaugural programme started with the State anthem, ‘Bande Utkal Janani.’ The event will continue till Monday.
