Kendrapara: Panic gripped the residents of a village in Kendrapara district when hot water and sand suddenly spurted out to a height of about 30 feet while digging a well on Saturday.
The bizarre incident was reported from Naladihi village in Mahakalapada block of the district.
According to reports, a well was being dug behind the house of one Shyamsunder Bhol. Around 45 minutes after digging, when a plastic pipe and filter was being placed inside the well, a sudden mix of hot water and sand erupted. The hot mix plastered the two-storey house and also flooded the nearby area.
A large number of people made a beeline to see the well erupting hot water and sand.
The exact cause behind the eruption is yet to be ascertained.
