Bhubaneswar: Two days after announcing its candidates for nine Lok Sabha and 36 Assembly seats, BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday announced candidates for 18 Assembly seats in the fifth list.
The list is as follows:
1. Maheswar Mohanty – Puri (General)
2. Bibhuti Balabantray – Jatni (General)
3. Debasis Samantray – Barabati-Cuttack (General)
4. Chandrasarathi Behera – Cuttack Sadar (SC)
5. Reena Tanty – Rengali (SC) (in place of Ramesh Patua)
6. Golakh Bihari Nayak – Jashipur (ST)
7. Sudam Marandi – Bangiriposi (ST)
8. Amar Singh Tudu – Saraskana (ST)
9. Srinath Soren – Udala (ST)
10. Jiban Pradip Dash – Balasore (General)
11. Ashwini Kumar Patra – Jaleswar (General)
12. Brundabana Das – Badasahi (SC)
13. Sanjeev Mallick – Bhadrak (General)
14. Parsuram Dhada – Soro (SC)
15. Amar Prasad Satpathy – Barchana (General)
16. Dhruva Sahu – Rajnagar (General)
17. Sambit Routray – Paradeep (General)
18. Bishnu Das – Tirtol (SC)
In its fifth list of 18 Assembly candidates, the party leadership has replaced seven candidates. They are Bhagirathi Badajena (Jatni), Ramesh Patua (Rengali), Mangal Singh Mudi (Jashipur), Bhadav Hansdah (Saraskana), Golakh Bihari Nayak (Udala), Ganeswar Patra (Badasahi) and Jugal Kishore Patnaik (Bhadrak).
The party has also fielded Sambit Routray from the Paradeep seat after its sitting MLA, Damodar Rout, was expelled. Besides, Bishnu Das has been chosen for Tirtol after sitting MLA Rajashree Mallick was chosen for the Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat.
The BJD’s fifth list has Reena Tanty as the only woman candidate. She had recently resigned from the Congress.
