Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has appointed observers for Atabira and Hindol notified area councils (NACs) elections, which are scheduled to be held on April 3.
The observers for Atabira NAC are Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Sushant Singh and Debesh Acharya and that for Hindol, Sudhir Samal, Sushanta Kumar rout and Kuna Bihari Das, an office order issued by the party said on Wednesday.
The tenure of Atabira NAC in Bargarh district and Hindol NAC in Dhenkanal will end on April 12. Voters will elect councillors and chairpersons for these two NACs directly while the election to the post vice-chairperson will be held on April 19. While Atabira NAC has 16 wards, there are 12 wards in Hindol.
March 15 was the last date for filing of nominations for the elections. The nomination papers of candidates will be scrutinised on March 17, while the last date for withdrawal has been set on March 20, the State Election Commission (SEC) had announced earlier this month.
While the polling will be held on April 3, votes will be counted and results declared on April 5.
