Bhubaneswar: Activists of BJD and BJP got into a scuffle during the five-hour hartal observed by the ruling party on Monday.
The scuffle between the political parties took place at Raj Bhawan Square, where the saffron party members were staging a dharna demanding farm loan waiver and probe into farmer suicides in the state.
Tension erupted after a group of BJD workers reached Raj Bhawan Square in a motorcycle rally protesting against fuel price hike. They had an heated argument with some workers of the BJP. Following which, stones were pelted from both sides.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, BJP state vice president Samir Mohanty has demanded stringent action against BJD workers involved in the clash.
