Bhubaneswar: Protesting the hike in fuel price and inflation, the ruling BJD has announced to stage protests across the state from October 31.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, BJD MLA Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak said the party leaders will stage a protest near Raj Bhavan on October 31 and submit a memorandum to the President through the Governor over the issue.
Biju Mahila Janata Dal, women wing of the party, will hold meetings in 146 Assembly constituencies of the state protesting the rise in price of cooking gas, pulses and essential commodities.
The student and youth wings, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal and Biju Yuva Janata Dal, will be staging dharna and protest meetings from November 5 to 7 near all petrol pumps in all the Assembly constituencies over the rise in fuel prices, Nayak added.
Nayak said fuel prices have increased by 30 per cent since BJP returned to power at the Centre in 2019. This has indirectly pushed up the price of essential commodities from 40 per cent to 100 per cent, he said.
