Jagatsinghpur: Leaders of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Friday visited Siali Beach under Padampur Gram Panchayat of Ersama Block in Jagatsinghpur district, where a statue of legendary leader Biju Patnaik was vandalised by miscreants.
The delegation inspected the spot, expressed deep anguish over the incident and condemned the disrespect shown to the iconic leader and former chief minister.
The BJD leaders demanded immediate identification and arrest of those responsible for the act and urged the authorities to restore the statue at the earliest.
Later in the afternoon, the delegation met Jagatsinghpur Superintendent of Police and discussed the incident in detail. The delegation reiterated its demand for the immediate arrest of the culprits and sought prompt and effective action against those involved. The leaders also submitted a memorandum to the SP
The delegation also urged the district administration and police to ensure adequate security and proper lighting at the site to prevent any such incident in the future.
