Bhubaneswar: New Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jayanarayan Mishra on Saturday his mission is to make ‘BJD-Mukt’ (BJD-free) Odisha.
The state unit of BJP announced Mishra, who is Sambalpur MLA of the party, as the Leader of Opposition in Assembly at the legislature party meeting in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Speaking to the media after his election, Mishra said he was honoured for the trust imposed in him by the party. “It is a great responsibility. I would make all possible efforts to carry out the responsibility,” he said.
On the agenda before him, the new LoP said, “Our aim would be to make Odisha a ‘BJD-Mukt’ (BJD-free) state. We would strive and mobilise all our sources to achieve the goal. I would try to make the voice of people clearly and emphatically heard on the floor of the House.”
The BJP legislature party meeting was convened to elect the leader after LoP Pradipta Kumar Naik tendered resignation from the post for being unable to discharge his duty due to prolonged illness.
