Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader V K Pandian claimed that the ruling party has already secured majority in the Assembly to form the government in Odisha after the third phase elections in the state.

Declining to hazard a guess on the number of Assembly seats to be won by the regional party, Pandian claimed that BJD is sweeping the polls with a strike rate of 80 to 85 per cent.

“I will not go into the numbers. I can say that we are winning 80 to 85 per cent seats in the state and we have already secured majority by the third phase elections,” the BJD leader said.

After the completion of all four rounds of voting in the state, BJD will have more majority, he told the media.

“With the blessings of Lord Jagannath and the love of the people of Odisha, BJD will have even more majority in the 4th phase of voting,” said Pandian.

Regarding Lok Sabha polls, the BJD leader said the party has received tremendous response from the voters and is all set to win maximum number of seats.

Stressing that record polling was witnessed in Bhubaneswar, he said the people of Bhubaneswar, especially the middle class, have overwhelmingly supported BJD due to its packages for them.

The promises for the young generation through Nua O Scholarship and youth budget have touched the hearts of the young voters. It has created a confidence in them, Pandian said, claiming that BJD has swept the polls in Bhubaneswar.

Coming down heavily on opposition, particularly Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Pandian said they sought to spread misinformation, false narratives and shed crocodile tears.

“They are spreading misinformation and telling lies to the voters as they lack confidence to talk about price rise, employment etc. Nobody is taking them seriously,” he said.

Taking a dig at BJP over the Centre’s performance in the last ten years, the BJD leader said there is no respite from inflation, rise in the prices of oil, gas, and food.

While three rounds of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are already over in Odisha, the fourth and final phase is scheduled to be held on June 1.
