Bhubaneswar: Mounting a scathing attack on Odisha’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government, Congress on Thursday accused it of betraying the people of the state in all fronts.
Addressing a press meet in Bhubaneswar, Chairman of OPCC Media and Communication department Biswaranjan Mohanty said the per capita expenditure of the people of the state has gone up by three times but income has been static.
Terming the promises of doubling the income of farmers a cruel hoax, the Congress leader said that Naveen Patnaik government’s promise of creating two lakh jobs per annum for the youth of the state remained a mirage.
Similarly, women’s empowerment is nothing but just an eye wash as the BJD government is a failed in all spheres, claimed Mohanty.
Making a scathing attack on the BJD government over its spendings on publicity, he said the Election Commission has also raised questions on its style of functioning.
Claiming that the BJD government has no respect for ethics and morality, the Congress leader alleged that public money is being spent for the publicity of the ruling party. The election symbols are being used in government programmes. Public money is being used keeping in view the election and votes, he claimed.
He further said, according to NHFS data per capita expenditure of the people of the state has gone up by three times but no increase in the income of the people.
Price rise has become a major concern which is a major cause of such huge gaps between expenditure and income of the people, he said.
Claiming that farmers of the state have been betrayed, Mohanty said no irrigation facilities have been provided to the agricultural land as
People of Odisha will not tolerate this government anymore and they will teach BJD a lesson in the forthcoming elections, the Congress leader claimed.
Senior BJD leaders were not immediately available to comment on the Congress allegation.
