Rourkela: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday accused the BJD government in Odisha of running a corrupt administration in collusion with the bureaucracy.
Speaking to media persons here, Odisha unit president of the party Manmohan Samal said while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as a global leader against corruption for his transparent rule, the BJD government in the state has set an example of corruption-ridden administration.
The state government has failed to check the corruption that is prevalent at all levels of the administration despite remaining in power for long 23 years. From panchayat to block to district level and from clerks to officers in Secretariat, the PC (percentage) culture is rampantly prevalent, Samal alleged.
Stating that corruption to the tune of Rs 1 lakh crore was involved in government deals every year, the BJP leader said the middlemen and contractors were pocketing huge profits from construction works of infrastructure in the state.
Citing the examples of corruption, Samal said the quality of the construction works for Rourkela Airport, Rourkela Medical College and Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium has been compromised due to dishonest officials and leaders of the BJD.
Claiming that the ruling BJD is fast losing its support among the electorate, he said, “People are now discussing the failure of the state government. They have read through the plans of the BJD to mislead them.”
On the other hand, the BJP is gaining support under the visionary leadership and efficient administration of Prime Minister Modi.
“From farmers to youths, from daily labourers to working professionals, from small-time traders to business captains, all have come under the socio-economic reforms of the Central government. Be it LPG connection or farm loan, houses for rural people or power connection, the voters have realised the efficiency of the BJP,” said Samal.
Stating that the people of Sundargarh district, particularly Rourkela city, have been supporting the BJP, he expressed his confidence that they would vote the BJD power in 2024 General Elections.
