Bhubaneswar: Hinting at a possible tie-up with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the upcoming elections, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday said that the party would take appropriate steps to safeguard the interests of the state and its 4.5 crore people.
Speaking to reporters after a marathon meeting of the party, senior leaders Debi Prasad Mishra and Arun Kumar Sahoo said that BJD under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is committed to the development of the state and it will take a decision keeping in mind the interest of the state of Odisha.
Extensive discussion was held under the leadership of BJD president and CM Naveen Patnaik with the senior leaders regarding the strategy of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, they said.
“It was resolved that since by 2036, Odisha will complete 100 years of its statehood … major milestones to be achieved by this time. Therefore, Biju Janata Dal will do everything towards this in the greater interests of people of Odisha and the state,” the senior leaders said.
Stating that Odisha is heading towards next level of development and efforts are on by the government in this direction, Mishra said the state will achieve the development milestones set by the CM. “A decision will be taken keeping in mind whatever is needed for the state and in the interest of the people,” he said
