Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Friday said the party would launch ‘Ama Sahara, Ama Unnati’ (our city, our development) programme in August to connect with people in urban areas. It will be in line with ‘Ama Gaon, Ama Vikas’ (our village, our development) programme launched on July 1.
Addressing a meeting attended by BJD MPs and MLAs at the party headquarters here, the BJD supremo said welfare programmes being undertaken by the state government would be highlighted through the programme.
“We launched ‘Aama Gaon, Aama Bikash’ to carry forward the pro-initiative of our government to every village in our state. People should know the good work being done by our government, the transformation that is happening in infrastructure, livelihood and social sectors. Through this, we should also effectively counter the misinformation campaign by the opposition parties,” he said.
With this, the regional party aims to counter the BJP, which has launched ‘Mo Booth Sabuthu Majboot’ (My booth is the strongest) programme in the state to connect with the people and highlight the welfare programmes of Narendra Modi-led central government.
“It is important that the Ward Committees formed in NAC, Municipalities and corporation are empowered with adequate information and given due importance while implementing development and social sector programmes. Ward Committees are the foot soldiers of the party and I want them to be truly representative,” added Naveen.
BJD Vice-President Debi Prasad Mishra informed about aim and objective of the programmes in his introduction speech. Aama Gaon Aama Bikash co-ordiantor Bhupinder Singh briefly outlined about the development of western Odisha during the meeting.
