Jharsuguda: Police on Wednesday arrested Jharsuguda District BJD president Sambhu Mohanty for allegedly misbehaving two policemen on duty.
“Sambhu Mohanty was arrested for his unruly behaviour towards two on-duty policemen,” Jharsuguda SP Ashwini Kumar told the media here.
The incident had taken place around 10 pm on Sunday when BJD leader and Brajarajnagar MLA Kishore Mohanty was returning in his car with Sambhu Mohanty from Belpahar. Belpahar sub-inspector Arjun Oram and a constable flagged down the vehicle since Mohanty had not fasten his seat belt. However, they released the vehicle after Mohanty gave his identity.
Protesting police action, the district BJD president misbehaved with the SI and the constable on duty and threatened to send them to jail.
The incident later came to light after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
