BJD Leader’s Pregnant Daughter-In-Law Killed, 2 Injured In Accident In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj



Balasore: In a tragic road accident, a pregnant woman was killed while two others sustained injuries after their car rammed into a stationary truck on National Highway-18 in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

Sources said the accident took place near Gaddeulia Chhak under the jurisdiction of Baisinga police station late on Tuesday night while the victims were returning from Bhubaneswar.

The deceased has been identified as Dipti Rekha Singh, daughter-in-law of BJD leader and former Special Development Council

(SDC) vice-chairperson Kamala Tiria. They had gone for a doctor’s consultation for Dipti Rekha, who was pregnant.

Kamala Tiria and her son Abhishek Tiria were injured in the crash and were later shifted to Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore for treatment.

The impact of the collision was so severe that Dipti, who was sitting in the front seat, died on the spot. Abhisek, who was driving the car, and his mother Kamala in the back seat, sustained critical injuries.

Locals rushed to their aid and admitted them to Fakir Mohan Medical College & Hospital in Balasore town for treatment. While Kamala is stable, Abhisek’s condition is stated to be serious.
Baisinga police reached the spot after receiving information, seized the car and has launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Several BJD workers visited her at the hospital, after the news of the accident spread.
