Bhubaneswar: The newly-elected BJD legislators will hold a meeting on Sunday to elect their new leader.
The party’s spokesperson, Sasmit Patra, informed that the elected legislators will meet party president Naveen Patnaik at his residence Naveen Niwas in the morning. This will be followed by a meeting of the legislators in the afternoon in which they will elect their new leader.
After the meeting, the BJD president will meet the Governor at Raj Bhawan and formally request him to allow formation of the new government.
The oath-taking ceremony of the Chief Minister and his ministry is scheduled at Raj Bhavan on the forenoon of May 29, party sources said.
The Chief Minister had met Governor Ganeshi Lal on Friday to tender his resignation and that of his Council of Ministers. The Governor requested him and his ministers to continue in office till the new Council of Ministers is sworn in.
