Jajpur: BJD MLA of Bhadrak, Sanjib Kumar Mallick had a providential escape from a major road accident in the early hours on Wednesday.
According to sources, Mallick was on his way to Bhadrak from Bhubaneswar in his vehicle when it was hit by a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction near Jarka and fled.
Fortunately, the MLA and his driver survived as the truck hit the right side of the bonnet.
The local police rushed to the spot and rescued the duo from the vehicle and sent them in another vehicle to Bhadrak.
Efforts are on to trace the truck.
